I usually like to pick one of these types of devotionals to read during lent. This one was free, so I thought I'd give it a chance.
I liked the parts that were simply scripture, and I enjoyed reading the words of Julian of Norwich. However, I really have to say that the rest of the book really didn't work for me.
This may be the perfect style for someone else, but I just couldn't feel very connected with this one. Overall, I found a lot of the "story" bits to be somewhat uncomfortable or simply odd. It just wasn't what I wanted or expected in a devotional. I ended up skipping those altogether, as time went on.
