I got this book from a friend, but I also had a Kindle version of it. I decided to finally read it.

Let me begin by saying that I'm a fan of "Oz" and all things "Oz." With that said, let me say that the premise for this book appealed to me from the start. I did not enjoy Wicked when I read it years ago, but I do love the idea of twisted stories. I wanted to try this one from the moment that I knew it existed. You need to know that to understand the impact of what I'm about to tell you.

I almost DNFed this book. I came very, very close to not finishing it. When I admitted that to my friend, she said that she had also had a tough time getting through the book, despite her initial interest in the premise.

It is very, very boring (at least in places).

I decided not to DNF it, though. Instead, I started skipping parts that I found uninteresting. There is a middle section in this book that is largely about the training that Amy (the main character) undergoes. I skipped and skimmed most of that. I highly recommend doing that and making the best choices for yourself that you can.

By skipping the parts that I found painfully boring, I was able to finish the rest. I enjoyed the rest of the book, though I can't say that it was a favorite. I may have enjoyed it more when I was younger.

Still, I do imagine that I'll attempt some of the others in the series, though I may choose to read a great many books in between each as something of a palate cleanser.

I can't say that I don't recommend the book at all, but I also can't say that I recommend it. I'll just say that you should be aware of what you're getting into and make the best choices for yourself.

I am including the link, but I receive nothing from the sales of this book.
