This was the only book in the series that took me forever to read. I kept leaving it and coming back to it, and that's mostly because there were parts of this book that just seemed to drag on forever.

I loved the first five books in this series. This one, however, can only be described as "OK." I only finished it, honestly, because it was the last in the series, and I wanted to know how things would wrap up.

This book somehow lacked a lot of the "charm" of the earlier books. Much of what made me fall in love with the series seemed to be missing from this one. The battles and fights were long, drawn-out, and almost incessant. There were too many characters, and the attention was too divided between them. Almost all of our favorites seemed to basically be making cameo appearances. I admittedly scanned paragraphs and pages just to get to something more interesting, especially in the moments when I was getting very close to simply reading the end and DNFing the rest.

For me, the end is good, but the rest of the book was not up to par to the others in the series. Still, I highly recommend the series, overall, to anyone who hasn't read it.
